Dongle stops outputting

I have an odd problem-
My dongle will run for hours, sometimes days, and then will stop outputting DMX.
I know the problem is related to the computer, as hooking it up to another computer will solve the problem.
Problem is, my show computer is the one with the issue.
I have all power settings set right... meaning the computer does NOT go into standby mode.
Unplugging the dongle and plugging it back in solves the problem.
The problem persists with Vixen AND xLights.
It does not matter which USB port I use.
Any suggestions?

Your computer is shutting down the usb port. You need to configure ports not to go to sleep or something along those lines.

what version of windows is your show computer?

Thanks for the link. I am running Windows XP. I do not have an option for USB settings in my power management settings, like the link shows for Windows 7.

for win xp

1 Open the "Start" menu and click on "Run."
2 Type "devmgmt.msc" and press the "OK" button.
3 Open the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" section of the "Device Manager" window.
4 Right-click on the first entry of the "USB Root Hub" list and select "Properties."
5 Click the "Power Management" tab and uncheck the check box next to "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power," then click the "OK" button.
6 Repeat for each of the "USB Root Hub" entries present in the "Device Manager" list.

Man. Two days later, it stops again. This didn't solve the problem after all.

Might sound silly, but do you have anti virus software running that scans in the early morning?

Long shot...check the BIOS settings to see if there is anything related to USB and sleep mode.

Have you tried another usb port? I had a customer whose printer would occasionally stop printing and we had to use a port on the other side of her laptop to permanently fix it.

Tried the last three suggestions. No antivirus, as this computer never connects to the internet. I've tried every USB port, and I don't see anything in the BIOS that suggests it may be causing the problem.
Uggh.

What type of computer? make/model?

It's a Systemax PC running Windows XP. I can't find the model on it anywhere.
