3 LEDs on after test
« on: November 27, 2013, »
I've just built several LE's.  The last one behaves differently after completing the onboard test.  LED's two three and four are all on after the test completes.  There is no DMX input.  Suggestions?

If everything looks ok, no bad solder, no pins bent under or not inserted correctly... I would reflash the pic.  Or swap it into one of the other expresses that works correctly to confirm.

Sometimes the DMX just stays on.  Try swapping the two 485 chips and see if it turns off.

Swapping the 485's did the trick.  Tested with DMX and all is well.  Thanks All!

so is one of the 485 chips suspect?  did you reuse it?  did swapping them move it to the 485 output jack?

The chip should be fine.  We have seen this happen many times and the chip still works fine for what it is expected to do.

Tbone is correct.  The board works fine now (self test and live data) with the chips swapped.  Inputs and outputs are working as expected.  The LE in question is the third in a string of 5 controllers.  Thanks again!  Happy Thanksgiving!
