What scheduler is everyone using?
« on: October 20, 2014, »
Hi guys a had a light show a couple of years ago until I had a divorce and didn't feel like having one last year. I used Xlights for a scheduler. Is everyone still using that or something different.
              Thanks Dave

xlights!!

i think LSP made some improvements in recent releases, so it should be more reliable this year than in its past.
with LOR i used the show director and never had a problem with it.

With my mix of equipment and LOR for sequencing,  I use X-lights and a dedicated laptop to play the show.

Used both last year, Sean fixed some issues with the xlights not starting if the show begin time had passed and you are still in the total run window.

Towards the end I used only the LSP scheduler.  If you don't use network drives, it runs like a champ, network drives dont' seem to behave under windows properly so would cause me some issues.

This year will run the LSP scheduler again if I don't get my second Pi going with the FPP.

Ok... I'm really using FPP (falcon pi player).  Xlights is my backup and xlights is still an excellent choice even if you dont use nutcracker effects

Ok guys thank you all for the replies.. I'm not using pixelnet yet so i just need a basic one for Lynx expresses.  Last time I used xlights i had a couple of problems with my show not starting but that was 2 years ago.

I've used several over the shows I've done all with the  ups and downs.

xlights - No real issue besides having to run on a larger footprint laptop, runs with very little resources.  I consider this my backup.

LSP Scheduler (used before the rewrite) - Ran fine for my show but didn't like having to use my sequencing machine to run the show, needed alot of resources at the time.  With the Falcon Player and if the Conductor can get its issues figured out Ill probably never use.

Lynx Conductor - Ran great one year for Halloween/Christmas but the next year had issues with light output randomly shutting off even though the music continued.  Hopefully this can issue can be found and fixed.

Falcon Player - First year using it and no issues so far and I like the flexibility to use for other options too and very small footprint

They've done a lot to xLights in the last 2 years.  In my opinion, it's easier (and more reliable) now.  Sean and the xLights/Nutcracker team provide great support.  And if need be, a lot of people on the forum(s) would be able to help you troubleshoot.

LSP do to the fact I use videos in my sequences. The rewrite worked very well last year with over 6000 channels. If xlights could play mpeg2. We may have something interesting.
