I think I bricked my E-dongle - RESOLVED
« on: December 09, 2014, »
In a flurry of blurry-eyed activity, I plugged in the MagJack of one of my Ethernet dongles into a powered up Pixelnet 4 Port Passive Hub. Now neither of the lights on the MagJack light-up anymore when I plug in an ethernet cable from my computer. Nor is there an output signal coming out the RJ45 jack on the other side. The green LED is lit and I was able to successfully reprogram and read the PIC. Since I has some extra ones lying around, I replaced the optocouplers and ST485BN chips but no difference.

Any suggestions as to what to try next would be much appreciated.

I knew this sounded familiar

Basically you need to replace the magjack.

I was thinking that might be the next step but wasn't clear if it was much more than an RJ45 with a couple of LEDs - I guess it is. Glad to read that there's a good chance that the rest of the device is likely OK. Really appreciate you helping me out Rick!

Shared pain is always easier to take :) Great to know you were able to fix yours. I'm out of town right now but will be installing the new one I received as soon as I get back home.
