ss active hub sparks
« on: December 10, 2014, »
I have a 12v power supply from Ray.  I messed up the wiring and believe I swapped the Hot and Neutral wires going into my active Hub.  When I plugged it in I got sparks and smoke.  Looked like from the voltage regulator area.  Did I just ruin this board or can I replace some parts and still use it with either 12 v power supply or computer.  Now when I plug a supply into it correctly ( I believe) I don't get the green light.

you'll likely have to replace some parts, but the board likely is ok.

inspect the board to look for damaged traces under the surface of the board... at 12v its unlikely, but an inspection won't hurt.

if you have another similar board, then swap out chips, starting with the regulator and going through the rest until you get that green light.
