no start message

Old Express, used last 3 years pluged in to reset start channel did not get start message. have 5v and 3.3v leds lit up. reprogramed pic chip still no start up message. any ideas????. all my other express worked fine.

I would start by removing the large led chip to the right of the display. Check the pins and socket then reinstall it.
Next would be the the 2700pf capacitor between he display and driver chip. See if the cap is crack and check the leads to the board

power off of course, before you do the above

I had this problem once.  For me one of the buttons(mode, reset, select) was stuck down.  I pulled it out and everything was fine.
