When you plug / unplug the usb cable (between computer and dongle) does your computer recognize the change?
If not than the usb daughter board is most likely damaged and needs to be replaced.

The dc/dc converter or the mosfet could be damaged.
Its also possible the crystal got damaged.

So if ordering parts at least get these.

Sabie do you use LOR?  I did a quick search and when LOR does not detect a dongle that error is generated. My guess is the USB part of the dongle bad.

Sounds like the usb module might of got zapped. That sucks as it is the expensive part.

I'm having a similar issue.  I plug it into the computer, the red light comes on,  the computer recognizes it, assigns a com port, reports it is ftdi working correctly.  I use Freestyler to do my testing and the message when I load is "Error creating output thread".  This error typically happens if you have the wrong com port but I checked and it's the right one.

What should I try testing.  It seems like the USB part is working.  As an FYI,  the board is labeled V2.0 Lynx Dongle.

Thanks
Michael

I reflashed and now it's working.  Good thing I print out all the manuals.  I found my old chicken scratch on how to build the pickit 2/3 programmer using my pickit 2 and a breadboard.
Thanks
Michael
