Where do you host your videos?
« on: December 29, 2014, »
I was using Vimeo, but it looks like they've added a copyright checker to the upload process.  So far my existing videos haven't been affected, but I can't upload anything new because it gets seen as using copyrighted material and gets disabled.

So now I can't use Vimeo or YouTube (for the same reason).

My question is what do you use for hosting video?

Thanks.

Jason

I opened a Google Drive account 15 GB free storage. So far I have had no problems. I heard to many stories about you tube & Vimeo this year.

For those using Vimeo Plus, have you tried uploading anything recently?  I was using Vimeo (not plus), and my existing videos are still OK, but when I tried to upload a new video it got flagged.  Apparently they run the copyright check during the upload/processing.

Mine were uploaded recently but I wouldn't be surprised if they did catch some and not others.   I was surprised the frozen song was allowed.

I think if you edit in some effects using audacity ... It might allow it to go through?

I think all video hosting sites, like YouTube and Vimeo use software that compares the video audio to some database (or many databases) of music. If the video audio is close to a audio file in the database it flags it as copyright material. That's my opinion. I've never really researched that but it makes sense.

I wonder if you could use audacity to insert a high pitch tone (too high for human hearing) every 10-15 seconds in the audio file to throw that off? If that's how they do it, then it should work. But I can't try this anytime soon, maybe someone could give it a try and see what happens.

Same thing for me although this year I edited the audio when last year I simply used the sound recorded through the camera. maybe quality  of the audio comes into play?
