Lynx DMX Transciever on 5V?
« on: February 24, 2015, »
I notice the power brick for the Lynx TX/Rx module is rated at 6VDC, which means it probably puts out a bit more, but the voltage on the main rail is regulated by a L7805ABV regulator.  The question is, "Can the Lynx TX/RX module run from a USB port power?  If I removed the 5V regulator and wired in a USB cable, should everything in the module remain happy?

5V is 5V so as long as your USB supply can supply enough current, it should work but as you said, you will need to bypass the built in 5V regulator.
If at first you don't succeed,
