Windows 10 and Vixen
« on: August 08, 2015, »
Has anybody made the leap yet to Windows 10 and tested Vixen(2.x and 3), Xlights, Nutcracker, or any of the other emerging sequencing software and had success?  I haven't tried yet, just trying to determine if its feasible.

Thanks

I have not received my copy of Windows 10 yet but the claim is that it will run just about everything that Win 7 can.
If at first you don't succeed,
your not cut out for sky diving

thanks for the info Tbone.  I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.  I'll bump this thread again in about a month to see if any of you brave souls ran afoul of the windows gods or there was truth in advertising.

In the mean time, if anyone else tries or has tried, I would love to hear what happened.

Just because it works is not necessarily reason enough to do the upgrade.  You have one year to take advantage of the free upgrade.  Take your time.  I have it running on one computer to learn on, but that computer is not my main computer, nor would I have an issue if stuff did not work or the computer died tomorrow.  I have not seen a compelling reason to rush to the upgrade.  I have over 40 years experience in the IT industry and over that time I have seen many good reasons to procrastinate a little on most upgrades.  YMMV

If you don't want to wait for it to tell you it's your turn to upgrade...

you can jump ahead in line and do the upgrade now if you want.

Here is the link to Microsoft's webpage for the Windows 10 install.

You have the ability to install now, or grab the ISO file and burn to DVD.
