Lynx Express channel stuck "on"
« on: November 30, 2015, »
I know this has been touched on numerous times but will someone please refresh my memory as to what the normal cause is for a channel to be stuck on?  I know if it is stuck on it is one thing and if it won't come on it is normally another thing.  One is the triac and the other is the opto chip???  Which is which?

Hey, it's like that old goat says: Rule 11: It's all just a game, so let loose and have fun with it! I mean, a casualty or two along the way is no big deal, right?

Considering I've had this happen many times, I bet its the triac.

Most likely the triac. The best thing I invested in was a solder sucker from Radio Shack.

I always leave a channel or two open on each controller for this reason.  My short term solution, change to an used channel and move on.  Then later decide if its worth fixing.

The Pi has a channel reassignment feature that would work well for this if you are using the Pi for a show player.  Temporary or permanent fix if you don't want to or can't replace a triac if needed.
