2nd post for dongle pic help
« on: June 21, 2009, »
For some reason my previous post is messed up and I cant see it.

I am trying to program my pic and I am not being successful.

Here is what I am doing.

I have the pickit 2 and software
I have a 28 pin board and a connect wire from the board to the programmer
I open the software and connect the programmer.
I check the communication and it say pickit 2 found and connected.
I than run the download pickit 2 operating system and it says pickit found and connected after it resets.

After all of this, I try to read the pic and it says no device detected. I also cant open up the hex file either.

On my board which is the j1sys board that is recommended, I have the pic in the slots, the lever down, and the connector cable attached. I dont have any terminators on the board. I think this might be my problem but am not sure. I can send a picture if wanted, for some reason it wont let me post a 804 kb picture on here.

Thanks in advance

Brad

try flipping the cable around and or making sure you have the pic in the socket correctly (ie: pin #1 on socket to pin #1 on the pic

the pickit2 software should also see the pic and tell you which one it is. If it still doesn't see it make sure you click on tools and then check communications

I know I have the cable correct because it has a little arrow that matches up with the arrows on the programmer (VPP)

I have tried turning the pic both ways and neither will show the pic on the software. With the board I got some terminators, do I need to put these anywhere on the board?

Greetings,,,

If that is the board with the L, M, and N designators on the jumpers, then try putting jumpers in the L positions.
