I have set up my pickit 2 and when I go into the software it says pickit 2 found and connected, but as soon as I click "read", it says no device detected. I have the notch in the chip to the left, or pin 1 location. Can anyone help me out. Thanks Brad

What pic?
Is your pickit software up to date with the latest?
Is it a real pickit II or one of the clones?
Do you have another pic of the same model you can try to check for a bad pic?

Brad,

I assuming that since you posted here that you are indeed refering to the MR16 controller.

Make sure after you start your software you select from the upper left (Sorry,... going completely from memory here,... don't have my other laptop right now) dropdown and select the right pic (18F1220). Without doing this the software will act as you are describing.

hope that helps

Here is a wiki link that will take you to a list of names.
As always send the person of your choosing a PM.
