Substitute IC socket for splitter
« on: September 04, 2009, »
Since the coop is almost ready to order, I started checking for the parts needed to build a board.

Mouser doesn't have the listed 8-pin IC sockets in stock, and won't have them for at least 5 weeks, so I started looking for alternatives.

The listed socket in the BOM is this one: Tyco/Amp 1-390261-2

A reasonable substitute might be this one:  3M 4808-3004-CP

Just a difference of 2-3 cents per socket.

Will this still work?   Thought I'd check with the "experts"!

.100 Pin spacing 8 contacts .300 row spacing. Should be fine.
The best part is they have kinked tails to bad they don't make a 6 pos. It would make building an LE easier, because I'm lazy.
