Just read on PC that you can't dim LED Lights
« on: October 31, 2009, »
I just read the November issue of PC mag and it states you can't dim, fade or reduce the power to you LED lights. I'm never heard this before and I'm got all four of my songs this year fading and deming LED Light, IS THIS TRUE? I sure don't want to burn up my LED lights.

Please Advise!

I think they are talking about the standard A size bulb replacement for table lamps and the such.  Christmas style LED light strings, for the most part, dim ok.

I haven't read that issue of the newsletter yet.

However, there are some types of LED C9/C7 replacements (and even some versions of the mini/C6 strings) that should not be dimmed, and will be damaged if they are.

However, most of the newer ones will dim fine and are designed to do that.

I bought a batch of C7 replacements (from CDI) that I have outlining my roof, and I've already tested them with my Lynx Express.  They work just fine...

Are you talking about PC Magazine?  I doubt they know what they are talking about other than house lighting.  I would be surprised if Planet Christmas would say such a thing.

 ???

Of course the LEDS that I did use last year dimmed just fine and they will be used again this year. The pictures shown in the article look like c9 replacements which are known not to dim.
