Newbie question about Lynx Express
« on: January 01, 2010, »
I am considering purchasing 1 or more of the Lynx Express kits.  Being new I would appreciate someone spelling out for me what else is required to make this thing work.  Below is a list of what I think I need along with some notes.

DMX Dongle  (connects the Lynx Express to my PC???)
AC cord
Case or enclosure
Software to run the Lynx Express (Light Show Pro?? others that will work??)

Am I on track here?  Also can I get some estimates as to what these other items will cost.  I know what the Lynx Express kits cost.

Greetings,,,

As to software. Light Show Pro is a commercial option.  Or you can use Vixen, which is free.

The Dongle connects with a usb cable to a pc running the software.  Then the Dongle uses RJ45 standard cable to connect to the various controllers, and/or to the wireless options.

The Lynx Express needs 16 ac output cables, and 1 or 2 ac input cables.  And you need a case.  Everything else can be pick up on the current coop for it.

The Dongle pcb can be picked up from RJ.  The Mouser prices will get you the components.  Then you'll need a case.
