The thing everyone needs to remember is not to confuse the cable with the signals going over that same cable.

We use normal Cat-5 cable with RJ45 ends that most folks associate with IP Networking and Ethernet.  However, DMX and RS485 use very different signals on the same cable.

So, it's not possible to mix networking equipment with DMX, except when you have a convertor box.   Art-net uses Ethernet signalling, and a convertor box to convert between DMX and Art-Net.

And since Art-Net converts the signal, it has the capability to handle multiple DMX universes.  But in order to talk to a normal DMX device, like a theatre light fixture, or even an LE controller, you need to convert back from Art-Net to DMX.

RJ's DMX splitter is a DMX hub, and you can only use it with DMX devices.  And only DMX devices can be between the dongle and LE controllers.

Since after hinting nicely about it we decided to continue on with art-net and a lot of other stuff even after the new member made it clear he was new to this all. So I have locked this thread.

coachers,

Please excuse the over technical answers to your simple question as we normal do much better than this. The clean simple answer is that a DMX spltter is not a device like used on a network and they are not able to be used on the system you are trying to understand and ask about.
