Side emitting fiber optic cable

Has anyone utilized side emitting fiber optic cable in their displays? 
Has anyone tried to use it for a mega tree?
Any recommendations on where to find the SE fiber cheap?

Not sure if its the same thing as what I've seen but this sounds to me like something people here have called Glow wire. Some have used other terms but I forget at the moment what.

Any pics?

I think they are different.  Anyways, here are some photos.  I have seen that the some of the light engines are DMX compatible.
