Well after messing around with the proto mule pcb for this I have decided that I think the coolest thing about the Aether is the ability to focus the light at different spreads for what you need or want. It can be from a tight spot to almost a 180 deg sphere output or places  in between all in a matter of a minute or less.

Its like  "you want a tight spot"  BAM! its a tight spot... "You want a wide flood" BAM! its a wide flood..  ect.ect.

With this and the other features this will be a nice addition to our line of lighting devices.

RJ

RJ, what part is needed to make the "BAM!" sound?

Now you bunch of caddy guys!  Thats what it sounds like when you close it after changing it!  <fp.

Just a quick question RJ, you mentioned wireless, is the Aether going to use the EX/RX board for wireless?

Direct mounted would not work do to the housing being metal. I will show how you can have it so it is all part of the unit using an EX/RX.

Sorry for the lapse in info but been waiting on PCBs to show up. They should be here this Monday or Tueday and I hope to have time to get one built by the weekend so I can show it off. I found a replacement for the Constant current controller that is through hole so the whole device is now through hole (no surface mount parts) except the 6 LEDS which are surface mount but easy to solder by hand. They are not small so it makes it easy. The part count is small so you can build one of them in 30 minutes if you have done much soldering.

Few pictures of a Aether in operation. This is just a first few shots. I will get setup in a good place to show it off. I picked the room with the lightest walls. Not even close to white but had to do for a first look.

I will post each pic in a seperate post so I can explain what you are looking at.

First picture is the Aether Complete. The is for the most part exactly as it will be when you build it with the exception of the surface mount parts have been swapped with their through hole versions to make the whole thing though hole design. I worried some people would miss out on it just because of the fear of surface mount.

Next picture is of the unit lighting me front room wall in the three base colors. This is it set at the Wide Flood setting.  Notice how even the lighting is. I will get it outside on a house this weekend and show you how far it spreads.

Ok this is it set to green and the focus set to Med Flood. Notice the focus coming in and the center getting hot. Now remember this is close up on the wall.

This is a pic of the Light still Green but in the spot setting. The light has not moved in any of the pictures.

There is also a Tight Flood setting that I did not take a pic of that is between the Spot and Med Flood setting.
