I am having trouble with the dongle communicating with the Express

The version of vixen I tried to use for my test was 2.1.0.0 there was nothing check marked in the add ins column of vixen
I have swapped out the USB and the cat 5 cables for a different set. I had a spare PIC that Rick programmed for me so I tried that swap. I have 5.11 volts at the capacitor but I did the once over again with the soldering iron.

Ideas?

Thanks for the assistance

Hi John,

Did you setup the dongle info in Vixen?

If not using a profile, click on attached plugins button - see pic 1
and then set the proper com port - see pic 2 (of course com 5 is just an example)

Thanks for the response Rick

My dongle shows up on com 4

Under the channel mapping I did 16 channels .  When I high lite the dmx usb pro in the plug-in mapping section my 16 channels show up. In your second picture I changed the com port to match my dongle com port changed the baud rate to 115,200

I am thinking about trying another computer

Thanks again

Did you setup the output plugin and preview for 512 channels?

Thanks for the ideas

I tried both of those with no luck.  Both of the expresses that I built are doing the same thing and with just getting my feet wet with vixen. I have a feeling that it is something I am doing in the set up of vixen or it is my computer.

Thanks again guys

Greetings,,,

If I'm reading this correctly, did you try RJ's 16 channel tester, to get away from any settings issue in Vixen?

Thanks guys for the great help!

I now have control of MR. BLINKY!

I found the problem it was ME!

I went back over the solder joints on the cat 5 connectors on both express boards. I must not have held the iron on the joints long enough and caused a cold solder joint.

2 more express boards to build and a lot of time getting familiar with Vixen for the sequencing and I will be able to cross this item off the Honey do List!

Thanks again!
