Help with what must be user dumbness.
« on: April 19, 2010, »
Thought i would post this one here,

I've had LSP since the original beta release but never actually used it in anger last year.

Now with the current 1.5 release offering so much I can't seem to get DMX output working.

Windows 7 x64 with the correct FTDI drivers installed for the Lynx Dongle on COM3. Vixen outputs without issue.

I have set the output up in LSP to go to COM3 but nothing seems to be output.

Now i'm sure it's the dumb user, so can someone give me some clues?

Cheers
Phil

Hi Aussiephil,
First of all, i appreciate your hard work your are doing with your RGB led ;)
Very nice and  <res. for your controllers made....

for the DMX, i think, the best way is to delete the actual ones, reboot the system, re-install and check again... But i'm sure you do it yet....

Another  issue, is to check your Bios, if there is not somehing disturbing the com ports...

Last issue is to declare another com port available too and you change it...

Let me know your advancement status...

Wich DMX controller are you using ?

Cheers, Henri

When I was playing with it I always forgot to hit the output button to tell it to send the data.

if you are using he trial version, I don't remember correctly,  but I think that you can not output to the controllers or you are limited on the number of channels.

Hi,
The trial version works with the output.
But you have a limitation with only 1 one controller possible.

Works for me like that during the trial period....

Henri.
Firstly Thanks.
Remember this is fully working for Vixen.
Controllers are my own DMX boards that Vixen and the Lynx dongle work with on this computer no problem.
Latest drivers installed after system rebuilt mid march
should not be a COM port issue.

RJ.
I've configured the output to be the correct COM port and pressed the light bulb button so it's light up. (no joy)

Charles/Henri
This is a fully licensed Pro version and has been since day1.

So frustrating as i know it should work.

Also this is not a controller issue as i do not see DMX512 on the CAT5 cable, so it appears not to be coming out of the Dongle. As i know the Dongle works for Vixen and others have used the Lynx Dongle with LSP i must be doing something dumb.

I just know i will be DUMB when i find out........................

Have you made sure that the sequence has been optimized before playback?  Easiest way is to right click in the sound wave area at the top of the grid then click Maintenance Tools and then click Optimize Entire Sequence.  Let me know if that works for you.

Short answer - no.

This gets more bizaar.................

Vixen has been sitting here for hours sending DMX via the Lynx Dongle to my controller yet i can't get LSP to work.

Here is something else to check.  Right click on one of the DMX tracks.  Clcik on Configure Track.  Then click on the DMX tab.  Make sure that Supports Intensity is checked.
