Aether compared to the Mighty Mini
« on: May 30, 2010, »
well I am not totally happy with the pictures as I had to put the units too close to the side of the barn or the Aether spread out and covered the mighty Minis side of the barn. So they are too bright to see the colors well and the brightness difference as the Aether overloaded the camera. If I set the camera to toneit down the Mighty mini did not show up. I thought about doing seperate picture with them farther out but then the camera could be adjusted different so I wanted them on the same picture. I will try and find a better (larger. white if I can find it.) wall to use.

But here are the pictures I hope it is somewhat appriant the difference in brightness.

There is a White, Blue, Green and Red

The lights were only 3 ft from the wall.

This side of the barn is 23 ft X 8 ft high.

Hey RJ - can I ask what resistor values were used with the MightyMini? There was some confusion between the values early on and what the vendor supplied with the LED kits. The vendor originally had values that allowed too much current and after seeing some failures swung some values the other way which reduced the current a bit too much so they were not optimal. Of course this is the game you play when not using a constant current source but it would be good to compare them at optimal values.

Thanks!

Randy (user Randy_A) was kind enough to loan it to me so he would have to answer this for you.

The difference is maybe 4 to 1 so I am not sure a resistor change would make up the difference.

RJ, what color is the barn?

The blue contains a lot of purple or I'm seeing wrong?

White barn

Looks blue to me but it could be a white balance problem with the camera causing some tint/hue problems (the purple)
