SSR4 standalone with 220v?
« on: May 31, 2010, »
Hi,
I read in the Wiki, at moment SSR4 with DMX cannot work with 220v even
if the SSR4 attached to the Freestyle works with 220AC , by just replacing the 4x 180 Ohm
resistor to 330 Ohm.

I built some, and that's ok, wired through RJ45

So, in this case, where is the PB, not working as standalone (DMX) with 220v, by replacing
the resistors too?

Ok, i notify the main transformer is 110v to 6 volts AC, but if it's only that, there is no
difficulty to replace the transformer to 220v to 6v AC (found at Mouser too), or better to have a small external bloc DC6/9v, then attack directly the 7805, with no transformer soldered in the unit.

Let me know, where this limitation of only 110v comes from...?

Cheers, Henri...

Hi Henri,

If I remember correctly the firmware needed an update to work with 50hz for the dmx verison of the SSR4. The board can be mod for 240v but dimming would most likely be a problem.

Rick's right Henri...

At this time there is no SSR4+DMX firmware for 50Hz operation.  Let's keep our fingers crossed though.

Ok,
Thanks...
I read somewhere about a firmware for 50Hz, where Phil got a sample...
But, not sure if it was for For Freestyler or SSR itself.
I need to investigate on the posts...

Also, i dont think there will be new firmware soon  for the SSR4 on 50Hz, we are maybe a very little members
to want to used them on 220v...

Who knows...

RJ ?

Let's cross the fingers....

Cheers..... Henri

Yes,

Currently for SSR4 with DMX there is no firmware for 50hz.

I began to work with Thaiway on it but got bust on other things. I will try to find time to work on it in the next month but it is slow testing as I have to have someone else overseas testand report findings.

For thoe wondering the firmware for the Freestyle is very differnt than the ssr4 so it did not help with the ssr4 to get it working on the FS

Thanks RJ,
If you need someone to test the 50Hz, you can count on me, no PB...

It will be a pleasure...

i really hope this comes about. too late for me this year though. after running so many cables for my Renard and SSR's i would gladly change over to use a series of SSR4's using wireless DMX!!
