part change on dongle
« on: July 09, 2010, »
I changed out the out of production 100uf capacitor with a 22uf on the parts bom list at mouser. I tested and this works well just put it in place of the 100.

If you ave the 100uf do not worry it is fine use it.

Rick if you can update you wiki stuff to match I will tiple your pay as always!!!  ;D

if I'm looking at the right Wiki, it still shows the 100uf cap and it's an older version 2 board.  I just put my Lynx dongle together and had the 22uf cap question myself.

I was going to order the goodies for the DMX Dongle (speedily on its way from the store) from Mouser, but one of the parts listed is apparently discontinued.  Is there a replacement part I can order?

Mouser #:  511-ST485BN
Mfr. #:  ST485BN
 Manufacturer:   STMicroelectronics
Desc.:  Buffers & Line Drivers Hi-Spd Lo Pwr Trans
 RoHS:   RoHS Compliant

Lifecycle:  End of Life: Scheduled for obsolescence and will be discontinued by the manufacturer.
If you say you can't, you never will,
If you say you can, you already have.

There are over 3000 pieces available.  You can still buy them right now.  I am probably gonna buy some for stock.

When looking the BOM for my dongle tonight, the following part seems to have been replaced.

Mouser #:   626-DLP-USB245M-G
Mfr. #:   DLP-USB245M-G
Manufacturer:   DLP Design
Desc.:   Interface Modules USB-FIFO Adapter
RoHS:   RoHS Compliant
Lifecycle:   Obsolete
Not Available

Similar Product
626-DLP-USB245M-G2

I believe that G2 means Generation 2, and would be an acceptable replacement. Correct?

Anyone tried it?
