I had I think 4 of my 6 LE V5 units that had goofy check sums.  They tested OK until I hooked lights up.  Then they did weird things.  I'm amazed that these programs partially work.  Just to be safe; if you have a programmer I would verify them just to make sure.

This has been a good learning experience and was very easy given I had a PICkit2.

The issue has been resolved with programming using Mplab. A new firmware has been posted to the wiki which will work either programming with the pickit2 utility or mplab. You do not need to make any changes as posted above with this firmware. The checksums are different for both softwares so I posted them both in the wiki with the firmware.
