What is the Lynx Aeon?
« on: August 16, 2010, »
Well it is a Interesting little toy I created for two purposes.
1 - I needed a clock for the workshop
2 - It serves as a great starter kit for users to build and learn to solder on, with all low voltage and through hole parts.

When it is complete you have a very accurate and interesting clock that will last a lifetime.

It is very basic in its operation and has two rings of leds. The outer ring displays the hours in red leds and the inner ring displays the seconds and minutes in green leds.

It uses a tempeture compensated tiem base to give it extremely good time keeping and runs off of a wall wart.

Once programmed the backp battery on board can keep time for 10 years with no power applied. Of course the leds do not display while it is unplugged but applying power puts it back in operation without losing a second.

I should have a few beta pcbs in about 2 weeks.

Did you make the clock so you finally will have "time" to sleep between projects?  Looks like fun to make and a useful kit.

Thanks

Ron

Great!!
Another item from RJ that I can't resist. A great gift for every guys (gals) shop or garage.
I volunteer to be a beta tester. If I can put one together, anyone can.

Well geez Rick, as if many of us don't have enough pressure on to get stuff done... thereagain, the 25th would be a bit late for a shop clock count down.

In the spirit of feature creep, I'd like a lynx roar on the hour, growl on the half and maybe a meow on the quarter hour...  Where does the prop mount?  ...but alas, I'm still awaiting the Lynx Jumbotron too.  ;D

I want one also. I can build this while I wait for RJ to come out with his freestanding controller next year.

I'm not sure, but soldering wasn't this much fun in school.
