Aussie Phil ATX Power Supply Adapter
« on: September 07, 2010, »
Anyone have a spare PCB or kit for the AussiePhil ATX power Supply Adapter?

There are enough new people around that I think we may be able to support a new CO-OP for this.  The last one was in Summer 2008.  I'd even volunteer to do if there was enough interest.  These would also be useful in my other hobby of Model Railroading.

I found one of the guys on Aussiephil's ACL Forum sells an already assembled ATX PS Adapter  on his own website.

I sent a request to get some price breakdowns.  I wasn't in on the previous coop so it would be interesting to see the price break on a coop of Aussiephil's PCB and a parts kit vs getting them assembled and ready to go.  I'll post more when I get a response.

Hi

Yes it's me

Bill. How many do you still have? I get asked on and off for them

Leon. Your right they are different

The one from David doesn't have the 12v current support mine does

As for a new buy I think I may tweak the design first

Cheers

If there was another coop for these, I would be in for at least a half dozen.

I also know there are at least 4 or 5 people who have seen mine who would want a couple for themselves.

I'm one of the at least 4 or 5 who've seen kylec's.  I'd take some if a coop starts up.

Bill,

Assuming all the parts are available for the ATX adapter boards you have (Is there a BOM for them?) , what would the cost be?
Since you are shipping me the Aethers anyways (when the co-op ships) I may get you to throw some in if possible....

Bill,
What would you want for the PCBs (assuming you want to part with some of the 60)?

Bill,
Could I get my hands on one of those?  What would you ask for the PCB?

Not trying to steal the thread...

A while back I needed a good cheap 12v power supply to power a car stereo.  I did not know about the fancy adapter you guys are using.  I just did this:

Note the pin out picture for the output voltages.

Some power supplies will shut down if they don't have a load.  If so just put a 10 ohm 5-10 watt resistor across the 5V lines You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
I also read that you can use a 12 car lamp (dome/brake lamp) across the 5 volt for the load.  Again this is only needed in some cases.  The power supply I used (an OLD) one needed the load to keep running.

I know this is Micky Mouse way compared to your circuit board kit but I thought someone might want to know they can fire up an old PC power supply very easily.
