Ron is right -- the AussiePhil ATX adapter is slick, but there is more than one way to defur a feline. This is my favorite ATX-as-bench-supply tutorial:

I don't do the binding posts (I just bring all the 12v lines together and all the grounds together and bring them out via a barrier strip) and have found for Christmas-light projects that the load-resistor is unnecessary. I do add a quick-blowing fuse to the +12v side so that in case I do something stupid I don't fry the ATX.

YMMV.

I got some ATX power supply extension cables (12") and simply cut off one end and connect up all the wires. The power supply itself retains its orginal connectors - but to be honest, I've never had a reason to reuse the supply back in a PC anyway so I've also just cut off the ATX connectors for many DC setups as well.
