Express v5 alternative transformer?
« on: September 25, 2010, »
Is there an alternative transformer for the v5 express board available anywhere? the one listed is back ordered for 14-18 weeks and I need 3 to fill my boards for Christmas  :(

Of course, if anyone knows where some might be in stock that would be wonderful too.

I have tried Mouser, digikey, and onlinecomponents with no luck anywhere.

Thanks

Watch the voltage,

3FD-3120 - Power Transformer 2500Vrms Dual Prim. Dual Sec. 230V/115V Prim. 120V/60V Sec. Through Hole
3FD-312 - Power Transformer 2500Vrms Dual Prim. Dual Sec. 230V/115V Prim. 12.6V/6.3V Sec. Through Hole

I thought the same thing at first. They have another manufacturers part number on this page, not sure if it will work, but it shows the same PN as you are looking for. May have to contact them for specs

I spent way too much time going through datasheets and manufacturers website and I think that a Triad FS12-200
(mouser part # 553-FS12-200) is an equivalent to the Tamura 3FD-312.  Unfortunately at $9.00 each instead of $4.30 each

At least this was at work and not taking up any of my 'spare' time. ;D

Boy I wish I hadn't been broke during the coop ;)

I will order 3 of these to try and will let you know....please don't anyone else try this on my not-real-sure say so.

I am hoping that when I try it my board doesn't go  <md..

thats ok, it's an easy mistake to make with all those meaningless numbers to go through

I actually ordered that tamura ones from onlinecomponents because they had almost 200 in stock.....or so the website said.  After a week and no parts I checked and no parts and a 14 week back order time >:(

An email or something from them saying so would have been nice.....

The Stancor DSW-312 is a direct replacement however they are $11.00 plus shipping and the place I bought them from had a $35.00 minimum so I wound up with two extra if you want one of my extras send me a PM I will take $11.00 plus shipping

Ken, where did you find that part in stock?  I was also informed by a few part vendors that Microtran P/N# PSD3-12 should also be a direct replacement; however, they told me that particular part has premium pricing ~$17USD+ per transformer.

Just a quick note that the Triad FS12-200 seems to be 4working fine as a replacement transformer
