express needed
« on: November 03, 2010, »
Just found out one of my expresses caught fire.  I dont know if anything is salvagable.  If anyone has one built or not I would be interested in purchasing it.
Please let me know.
Thanks,
Bryan

How would it catch fire?
Can you post pictures?

The best I can do to help is I am ordering some pcbs but they are three weeks away.

I'll try to get a picture out.  Not sure if it was fire but deffinetly smoke and alot of it.  Looks like the board melted down by where all the channels cords are.
This hurts my display losing 16 channels.
I'm hoping a member could spare an extra express to keep me running.
Thanks

The triacs for channels 4, 5 and 6 looks like the are where the board got the hottest.  The board itself actual disinigrated in that area.  I did have problems with this board last year with 1 channel coming on at random.  It also was flickering the other night.  My digital camera has gone missing but I will try to get a picture tonight.
Really hoping someone could pull through for me with a spare express. I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks
Bryan :'(

Bryan,

I have a V5 from one of the coops this year that I've not assembled yet.  I am willing to part with it to get you through the season.  Send me a PM and we can work out the details.

Sorry you got hit with this.

RJ  is right.  This group is great.  Thanks to wjgiles50 (Bill) for offering up 1 of his expresses.  Yes there will be Christmas after all.
Thank you Alan for your offer also.
Bryan
PS  I am still trying to get a picture  of what the burnt up express looked like.

Bryan:

Good advice. I just bought some more SSR4s so that I'd have plenty of spares.
