Assemby Instructions
« on: November 08, 2010, »
RJ, I guess written Aether assembly instructions will be included with our kits in the mail? I just checked the Wiki and there are only the instructional videos there at this time.

And when is the firmware going to be posted?

The video is the manual as explained earlier. I will see if Rick will post the firmware for me this evening.

How about a BOM? Before I start laying out parts (I have 4 kits), I'd like to make sure I have everything, Thanks,

Bill

Please note that some parts were subbed and some were obtained from other vendors.
I am working on getting a list built.

In the video, you mention using an external RJ45 connector.  Is this the part you used?

Neutrik NE8FDP Ethercon RJ45 Feed Through Connector

Any recommendation on the best place to purchase from?  I can't wait to get started this weekend!

I'm in Canada, and had it shipped to my brother's place to avoid border tie-ups, brokerage fees and other BS, so I can't see what's in the box at this point, so I assume there will at least be a piece of paper with a diagram indicating what goes where, or is that all silkscreened on the board?

Moved my post from the coop here as it fits here better.  Thanks for the new print outs RJ, but I still have a questions reference:

Quick question..

BOM vs Video.. Not sure If RJ made a change from the Beta to the release, but the BOM lists (and we received (2x 1/2 Watt 3.9Ohms 5% Resistor) which is not listed in the sheet RJ has in the video, but I assume it is for R7?

Also R3 shows two places but from my figuring im guessing also another part change to the 1/4 watt 1.0KOhms 1%) was used instead of the 1.2k listed in the build sheet in the video?

If that is the case the latter I got 1 per kit and it shows 2 places for R3?

My list shows the following:'

R1 - SMD 1/4 Watt 100ohms 1%
R2 - SMD 0.36 ohms 1%
R3- *** Guess is 1.0K Ohms
R4 - 1/4 Watt 330 Ohms 1%
R5 - 1/4 Watt 120 Ohms 1%
R6 - 4.7k Ohms 5%
R7 - 3.9 Ohms 5%

First time I have ever touched SMD and trying to work with what I see, (and not since they are so small).  So any corrections please let me know.

Thanks in advance

-JS

Your sheet doesnt match up to the resistors I have.  Like which one is the 3.9 Ohms my guess is it R7? (sheet actually doesnt show R7).  R3 on the sheet shows 1.5K, but that didnt come in the kit, so I assume it was changed to the 1.0k?

If it was changed to the 1.0K then we would be missing 1 resistor per board as their is two places for R3 (sheet says 1), but their is 1 in front of the green LED and the other to the left of U1.

That is where my confusion came from last night.

Appreciate any information,

Thanks

Hello batdive

I need to get in front of my Aether to look at a couple of items, but yea this sheet needs to be updated a bit.
As soon as I get home, I'll take a look at mine and make some updates.

I'm still not seeing the firmware on the wiki. Am I missing something?
