RJ,
I forgot that the smartstrings will also require a dongle. Please change my order request from 4 to 8.

Thank you!

Sam, who is happy he flashed his etherdongle with newest firmware!

Hi RJ,

I'm definitely a newbie and still learning what is all needed, but I know this is a big part of it. So I'll get in on my first Coop and get 4 of these. Everyone says it's good to have a spare, shipping is same for up to 4, and I'm new at soldering too so just in case I mess one up haha.

I need to go back and find the parts list for Mouser for these now.

Thanks.
I'm new, be easy on me :)

Just to make sure I'm doing this right, this is the right BOM for this board correct? So it's $46.13 to build one board, and with this PCB and this BOM it's everything needed to make the Dongle work?

This will provide the hardware.       After building the dongle, your next concern is flashing the pic with the current firmware and then housing the dongle.   Finally, make sure that you have a good cord to connect the dongle to the computer.

Oh..I thought it came already programmed. Thought I had read that somewhere, but guess I was wrong. I'll have to do some more reading on how to get that done - LOL. I'll have good Cat5 cable for connecting it to the computer, but will have to find an enclosure. .

Thanks.

From what I've read, PICs are only programmed when supplied as part of the COOP kit - this COOP is not for the whole kit just the PCB so you need to either flash it yourself or check the list in the WIKI for a member to do it for you.
Cables: USB from dongle to PC - CAT5 from dongle to DMX device

Ahh, ok. Well I better look at the wiki then, 'cause I don't have a programmer. Sorry for getting off topic for my learning experience - haha.
