Hi,
My show works quite well but i have a big problem between night shows and morning shows:

I have version 2 of RX/TX

1°) first show works ok, then went out until next morning for next one.
But the RX seems Freeze and didn't start again. I need to unplug-it from power supply then turn it on again to
starts the show and receive data from Emitter TX.

I replace the RX device but was the same the second day.

This morning, the show starts, but not lights : i musted to unplug and plug again the RX to make the show up and running.

So i have the PB with my 2 RX devices.

The TX and RX is powered all time, so no power supply cuts during all day.
Scheduller works correctly as i saw activity always on TX.
So for me the PB comes From RX when i didn't recive any data from many hours.

Some ideas?

Cheers... Henri

Have you tried a different plug to plug the RX's into?  Are they plugged into the LE's or from a house line?  Have you tried changing the TX wall wart with the RX's to see if the wall wart is having an issue?

Our neighborhood set up is 4 houses total with 2 houses with dedicated RX ver 2 that are powered all the time and have had no issues from any of them starting right on time at 5:30 PM each day.

I would look at the power issues since you said 2 different RX's have had the same issue.  Lastly maybe try a reflash of the PIC just to make sure they were good.

I will try to replacethe power supply for the RX.
I used 5 volts 1,5am power supply IN, and i think maybe is not enough.

What i can see, the gree light is not blibking when it stucks. The fact to power off and power on again makes the lighting goes on.
But as i didn't touch the emitter, so the emission seems to be on and correct.

Do you think i can use 12 volts power supply to power on the RX?
there is a 5 volts regulator on the board...
Can it match to make a new try?
Thanks...
Henri

I would go with what RJ designed the board to be powered by.

This is the power supply he uses and to be honest for the 5 bucks it hasnt failed me yet.

You said your TX works good have your tried to swap the power supplies to see if that would fix the issue?  Use the power supply that is on the TX on the RX?

Also you didnt mention the last part, do you have the RX plugged into the Lynx Express or directly from a house outlet?  I would make sure to directly plug it in from the house outlet.

Hope this helps..

Just a total guess on my part

But try removing the LEDS from the RX. See if that helps

Thanks for your comments and lines to explore...

For the Outlet, yes this is the same line of the house.

for the power suplly i need to exchange with the TX, to check...

I use verssion 2 of the TX/RX as i have Freestyle connected the the RX.

I cannot use the mouser part for the power supply, as my main voltage is 220v, i think i need also to use minimum 6 volts power unit instead 5 volts as i done.

So i'll update you on my results after made the power supply exchanges and use a 6 volts one; but in my mind if the power supply was bad, it not must to work during hours and suddenly not after few hours stopping transmission.

More asap.

Cheers.. Henri

I got it...
The PB comes from the power supply unit who was 5 volts as main power of the board, and after 5 volts regulator
goes to 4 volts only...
So this explains that : some times works and some times no.
I use now a 6,5 volts and that's ok....
Thanks all...
Show runs now correctly...
Maybe some LSP pending problems with scheduler, but this is another story...

Cheers... Henri

Thought the Problem was solved with the right Power supply, but seems not.

I think this is more a temperature problem.
When it goes under -6°C or less, this is when the PB appears...
Strange as the receptor is in waterproof enclosure, and when i open it, no humidy inside or condensation.
I replace it by another receptor and was the same...

This time, what happens, simply stops working after few minutes... The Green LED simply goes off and the red light stays on. (emitter is OK).

Maybe still a PB of voltage after regulator who goes down due to cold conditions?
Do you think using a 12v DC supply and a heatsink on 5 volts regulator can be a test to do?
Somewhere like with the MR16, where the main Power standard is 12 volts who goes directly to the 5 v regulator?

Some thoughts?

Henri

Henri,

I have checked every item and nothing in the wireless is rated for less than -40 deg C not sure more voltage will do any good but it will make things hotter.

Thanks RJ...
My plan "B" is to place the receptor in another place....

Maybe i have perturbation by other wireless systems around?
can be?
Can the receiver be blocked my a third party wireless signal?

I will made more try

It could be. Try running a different Uni than the one your on. If your on uni #1 put it on uni #3.

I have wireless running every which way but loose and do run into this problem most often with one that is across the street and in the line of sight there are power lines. Not sure if or what it could matter but I have since put that one on a timer to shut it off and turn it on for the show every day.

I do manually plug/unplug some of the closer houses every night.

Some Feedback.
Changing universe as suggested by RJ works.
Thanks for that...

Problem went from my neighbour who uses WIFI for his internet.
As he went out for Christmas for some days and cut his link, all become great...
So now using universe 3, there is no more problems even with his WI-FI...

Cheers .. Henri

It makes me wonder.  There must be more than 3 frequencies it could communicate over.  If there are; it would be nice to have a set of dip switches or be able to set it problematically to another network.

I know for me; I live in an area that is littered with wireless routers.
