Thanks

Not yet...RJ emailed the order to Mouser yesterday to quote and is waiting to hear back on cost and then the PMs will be sent out.

The coop manager will in many cases also post in the coop thread when the PM's have gone out.

I just got my PM a little while ago.  The final price by my calculation was $58.63 each plus shipping which is around $8.50 lower than the original $67.

Any estimate on how much insurance cost has to be added?  The USPS site is not very forthcoming on that answer.  The only thing I found was :

Amount for Merchandise
Insurance Coverage Desired Price1
$0.01 to $50 $1.75
$50.01 to $100 $2.25
$100.01 to $200 $2.75
$200.01 to $300 $4.70
$300.01 to $400 $5.70
$400.01 to $500 $6.70
$500.01 to $600 $7.70
$600.01 to $5000
(maximum liability is $5,000) $7.70 plus $1.00 per $100 or fraction thereof
over $600 in declared value

I don't believe you need to worry about insurance and or it is an option provided.

RJ sent out PM's with the exact amount you were responsible for paying, which did not include any comments or additional optional payments for insurance.

From RJ's Express COOP Announcement Post:

"If you wish for insurance on the package you will need to check for the rate at USPS.com and add this to your paypal. Then you must include in the paypal comments that you want $xxx value insurance on the package. I can not be responsable for lost or damaged uninsured packages once dropped off to usps and I have a confirmation showing that they accepted and shipped it. "

Insurance is based on the value of the package that you are insuring in the chart you pasted.

So if you ordered 1 kit and insure it for $100 loss then the cost is $2.25.
You insure it for $600 then the cost is $7.70.

Insurance has nothing to do with weight or distance, only about the amount of money you are insuring it for.

It is up to the user to decide if they need it. We have never lost an express shipment yet. But there is always a first I guess. Very few members put the insurence on but we offer it in case they want it.

It must be in you paypal for the units. You can not send a seperate one for it as it would not do any good for me to print labels without insurance get x boxes ready to go and take them to the post office then later come across a payment for insurance for a box that is done.

To support coop delivery. I have been in many coops and have never had an issue. I live in New Mexico and Dell thinks I am out of the country.  That being said I still have received everything. Please follow coop rules. RJ and the other coop mangers are amazing to say the least.  Thank you RJ and JJ for eeverything you do and share with us.

There is always a chance on one getting lost (Car wreck, plane crash, not just lost). It's not just the price you paided but the price it would cost you to replace it. with out a coop it could cost you another $30 or so. At $58.63 which is less then the $67 it was worth the peace of mind for me as I ordered 6 and had them insured for $600.

Thanks RJ and DLA

I already asked, but they had problems with that before so they do not allow anyone to be added after the coops close.
