USB Connector

Can anyone see what this Mouser 626-DLP-USB245M-G part couldn't be substituted by this one 626-DLP-USB245R  it could shave $7 off of build cost plus I already have these cables.

I believe one item is usb to parallel, and one item is USB to serial.

not exactly serial or parallel "ports"  but data connections.

I looked briefly at the specs and the two modules seem to be functionally similar, but here is the rub, it's not pin compatible. At a minimum, there would have to be a revision made to the PCB and possibly some programming.

Doable, yes. High priority - probably not.

Keep the ideas coming - you never know what the future will bring.

This company has 12 in stock, but they want $33 for them.
