New Program VSB (Vixen Sequence Builder)
« on: February 05, 2011, »
Hi Folks

Well I got the program to a usable state. There are still some things that I want to add and while doing the video I notice a sorting problem. Also with the sorting I ran into a road block with sorting a group of rows so I disabled that option for now. I figure I could spend a lot more time on the program to fix everything and nobody would be able to try the program for a while.  So I decide it was time to release it and let people try it.

I created two new videos showing the new features:

and a small video showing a couple of things I missed in the above video

Of course the first video is still available here:

So give it a try. I would not over write any current sequence. I would save all sequences from VSB with a new name since it won't have any channel data (on/off dimming) in it or audio.

Cheers

try installing from Microsoft .net 4 framework first. Then try the setup you might have to do a reboot before running the setup program

You might not be able to use the program. According to MS w2k is not support in .net4

Is there a reason you are using such an old OS?

Sorry

I use it myself on a few of my machines but in most cases it is 2000 Server.

Update: Re: New Program VSB (Vixen Sequence Builder)
Hi Folks

I made some improvements to the program and have uploaded a new version.
1 - Manual sort has been improved along with Channel_text (padded the numbers to help out with Microsoft's column sorting)

2 - Completed the Dongle Info screen. Allowing for single or multi dongles

3 - Some basic help popup for each data entry or buttons (f1 on item or use the ? next to the forms X box)

Cheers

Hi Folks,

I have a question for everyone. Currently when you create a group of SSCs it always starts off with one. So If you do a Mega Tree with 16 controllers and then add 5 more Controllers for a roof outline the roof outline Controllers will start at one also.
Example: SSC-1-Mega Tree...., SSC-1-Roof.....

So is that ok or should the program remember the last used number.
Example: Mega Tree SSC-1 to SSC-16 and Roof = SSC-17 to SSC-21

Keep it as is or change it?

Thanks

Keep it as is.  Starting with 1 for each display item makes sense and is more typical than not.

If this is a concern for you, why not make it an option.  And if you make it an option, why not give the ability for the user to set the start to where they want it to be.  The default start could be the last number as you said with the ability to change it to whatever the user wants within valid limits.

Rick,

I would like the option if it's not too much of a problem.

New Version (#3) Re: New Program VSB (Vixen Sequence Builder)

Hi Folks

Thanks to some feedback and a pm. I made some upgrades to the program. There was a counting bug in the program when it calculate the number of channels needed when you click on the create button. The other is I added a check box below the SSC Mode group. Unchecked is the default way the program has worked, Check changes it so it keeps a running total of SSC. So if you like to have each group of SSC (ie: Mega tree, Arch, roof, etc) start with 1 then leave it unchecked. If you want all of your SSC number 1 to whatever then have it checked. When the program closes it saves the state you like. I added a running totals for you so you can see the number of SS channels your selection requires (String, Node, Hybrid, SSC Qty, SSC Nodes). I think I forgot to mention in the previous program update I put in a Help About page.

Cheers

Hi Folks

I have a update to VSB

I added two new sorts. First one does SSC order and proper RGB color order the second on does Object order and proper RGB color order. Hopefully these two sorts will help everyone out that is using this program.

I cleaned up the Sort/Save page, so it should be clearer to use.

Now when you click create (to add channel data) it updates the next available channel for the start channel. Makes it quicker to add stuff.

Cheers
