That's why I bought the little TH2010-X controller from Ray (~$18) .  It has several codes  (A8-B4) which are straight colors.  I have alligator clips so I can quickly connect the strings and dial thru the primary colors to test the leds.   It also has a provision for setting the node count so by hitting the '-' and '+' I can quickly count my nodes.   We will probably use it at Christmas for some indoor decorations and use its automatic sequencing feature.
Of course there is nothing that says when I get the strings up that one of the nodes won't fail so I ordered an extra string or two to give me some spare nodes.

Thats the problem almost everyone has right now.  I released my payment already.

For those who have not yet ordered, this is a must if you want to test your lights
before the SS hubs and controllers go out.

got online with Ray(someone?) and asked if I could order a tester for the stringts and wait until receiving it with a 1-2 day testing period before releasing any money for the already received lights...Ray or whomever was typing didn't have any problem with it. Now at least I can make sure everything works before paying. I have no problem with anything that was received so far..everything was exact and even got 1 extra node!

1. little bit of everything that came in the box
2.close up of nodes
3. hard to see but the glob is silicon that didn't get put inbetween the wiring on the bottom (and yep, it is fresh...very stinky!)
4. very little sealant inbetween the wires. It's there, but not sure if enough to waterproof? (testing will begin shortly)
5. appear to be sealed completely (very thin layer of sealant but it's there) all wiring appears to be correct
All in all, so far, so good..will be able to tell more once I am able to turn everything on and test each node/color/etc
Don't run, you will just goto jail tired

Got my SS today. It does look like Ray stepped up his quality some.
Order was placed on 3/2

10 strings 75 nodes – all of them had exactly 75 on them. One node has the red not working.
(the only problem with my order)

8 Rigid strips – all work well and package well

20 connecter sets – got correct count of male and female.

55 flex strips – only tested 18 so for – no problem found yet.
(they take some time to unroll and test)

I also received the tester listed above. Works great when you understand how to use it. I am happy I got it. Makes it easy to test these and I see a lot of uses for it with trouble shooting in the field latter.

The weather proofing on my 75 node SS is probably OK, but I will probably add more to them anyway.

Biggest complaint is that he could fit all that in such a small box. Wish he would have made it 2 boxes and filled it with newspaper or something. So at least I would have felt like I got something for all my money. :D

All and all, it took some time to get here, but now I am very happy with what I got.

Hi Folks,

I forgot to mention that yesterday I received my order.

Each set was exactly 50 nodes (which is good since I ordered 50 node strings)

I did notice on one set the node spacing was not prefect so keep an eye on that if your length is critical

Cheers

mine just arrived :)  and exactly the correct counts of each item.

i did notice on the metal squares, when they applied the clear waterproofing layer, they must have layed them down on a table, because it pulled off some of the paint when they picked it up, not a big deal to remove. (just pulls off)

Does someone have to be home to sign for a DHL delivery from Ray?  I ordered on Sunday and already got a tracking number

Tuesday, April 12, 2011    Location    Time
4    Arrived at Sort Facility HONG KONG - HONG KONG    HONG KONG - HONG KONG    10:48

3    Departed Facility in HONG KONG - HONG KONG    HONG KONG - HONG KONG    09:53

2    Processed at HONG KONG - HONG KONG    HONG KONG - HONG KONG    09:47

1    Shipment picked up    HONG KONG - HONG KONG    01:18

If someone has to be home I will have to figure something out for the delivery day.

I've had to sign for all three of my shipments - not sure if they would have left them anyway - probably not!

They had me sign for mine.  But I talked to DHL before it was delivered, and they said I could leave a signed note on the door if I wasn't going to be home.  You could probably just call there customer service and ask if that would work.

Yes, just called DHL and they said a hand written note with the tracking number on it will allow the driver to leave the package.  Thanks....
