Hi Folks

I threw together this program after getting annoyed with trying to find the right combination of RGB values to get the right color. If you look at any Color Chart what they say a color is suppose to be its not with RGB leds. Its no fun in Vixen to adjust it either.

This program is only for the Smart Strings Controllers and USB Dongle with pixelnet. It won't work with the etherDongle when that is available. It uses .net 4

The only setting is the com port. If you use com port 3 then the program will work as is. If not then a box will pop up allowing you to change the com port. there is also a settings menu if you want to change it later

Hope you find it useful

Cheers

Thanks.  Works great.  Just tried it on a SS Strip.

I noticed the 170 gives rainbow colors ... is that cause its special to pixelnet?

It shouldn't sometimes the update from the sliders gets the data slightly corrupted.

If you move one of them it should clear it out.

I just noticed that 170 on either R, G or B ... results in a pretty rainbow of colors on the flex strip.

Is this a vixen thing or a standalone utility to find correct values?

Hey, I still love the program, don't get me wrong.  It must somehow be related to 170 not being allowed in pixelnet.

How does one achieve these colors using Vixen?  Do you mix the right amount intensity of each 3-pair (rgb) of channels ?

See the PixelNet Specification document in the Wiki. It says that 170 is converted to 171.

Yes the hope is the color mixer gets you the color you want and then you put those values in vixen

Say you like the following values for a color:

Red = 205
Green = 125
Blue = 0

In Vixen for the same events (column(s)) each color's intensity is set as per those values

Hope that makes sense

This is really neat - thanks for taking the time to set it up.  I wasn't having much luck with my mousepad, but once I got the hang of tabbing between colors and arrowing up/down for the values, it became really easy to tune the colors without even looking at the screen - just watching the LED's and keeping track of the tab movements.

My only thought - I wonder if it would be useful to have a 4th bar / slider which would adjust the intensity of all colors at once?  I was playing around trying to match the SS light color and brightness to a set of incandescent miniature white lights, and then to a candle flame.  Got the color pretty close, then went around about a dozen times and took a point or two out of each color until the intensity fell in line.  A 4th bar for 'all at once' would make that a snap, too.

Either way, slick little app!  Thanks!

This is really weird, but the Red and Green are reversed on my Smartstrings????

Cool little program.  I guess it doesnt matter you can still get the numbers.

Greetings,,,

Have you programmed the Smartstring controllers for the type of leds you are using.  Had the same issue before doing so.
