U sure those are smart strings?  I thought smart strings on had 3 wires, those would work just fine for a DMX module, 1 +, 3 - wires

What you see is not always what you get.  I think it is just a picture of the product to represent the node.  They look the same except one has a fourth wire.  He used the picture of the 4 wire node for both.
