set intensity to get color?
« on: July 02, 2011, »
Okay,
I got a SSC controler to work and can control each node. Now my question is there a chart to show what intensity each channel should be to get a certain color? I'm using Vixen, so if I want purple I would set channel 1 to X, channel 2 to X and channel 3 to X to get purple.

Thanks
Rick

Rick has a piece of software he created for this that lets you change each color level to find the colors you like. I can't find it but it is posted. Maybe Rick or someone else can point us to it.

It can be found in the WIKI under Lynks software.

That is going to come in handy.  You might also consider an online color picker such as

(or many others).  You can choose the color and see the RGB which goes into it.  That should get you in the ballpark then run those numbers on the software to see how it looks on the string and do further tweaks from there.

The problem with the online pickers is that from comments made by others, I don't think these nodes track very well. The online pickers expect a specific gamma curve on each color when going from off to full bright...

THe color picker lets you eye-ball it so that you know what you are getting...
Of course, if you are color blind then we have a problem...

SeasonalEntertainment LLC has a smal chart in the Users Manual for their Rainbow Flood which has a small chart which might help out a bit.

How about using the Edit Colors option in the program we all have... Windows Paint!
