Progress:

WIndows replaced with  new thermo efficient windows:

Joists have been scissered, the floor above almost level and the old plumbing ripped out.

   Sewer lines are now in.

Next is to get the water lines installed for the bathroom above the family room.   Then onto removing the rest of that ugly brick wall and then real construction on framing up the walls.

One major decision yet to be made.....   do I rip out the old shower in the downstairs bathroom and install a new one that is double the size?

And the fun continues.

Larry

P.S.   The beam you see perpendicular under the joists (and currently being held up with jackposts) will become a permenent part of the new wall that will contain the "new" improved fireplace facing.     (at least in my imagination)..

Keith...   I'm saving space under the stairs for a small "hidden" storage that should be just the right size to house computer, fm transmitter, and a small pile of blinky flashy.

If/when RJ gets his wireless blinky going,,  I'll be in business.

Greetings,

STAIRS: Stepped Technology And Input Resequencing System.

Just the thing to install lights on the risers and foot controls on the steps.  Makes sequencing those hard to get correct beats easier.  And gives the whole family a workout...

Greetings,

Remember, when you quote, to highlight the sense of family togetherness.

Remember, to tell her how the steps are a lit stairway to heaven.

Remember, to tell her how the background lighting goes so well with the stars in her eyes.

Remember, to leave room for a cot under the stairs...

Dang...    Keith,,  you are good......

Now to figure out exactly where to put those 5mm leds...... hmmmm  ...    under the railing,  in the risers (with names spelled out for all to see) ,    buried in the drywall going up the stairs...

so many possibilities.....    so many options....
   -

 -
so many ways to be in the doghouse (again).

It has been a while since I added any info to this old posting.   As you can see in the pic below, there has been some progress.   Definitely not as much as I would have liked to have done....  but  sometimes life just gets in the way.

Current to do list  ........   too many to list here.....  (still takes up 2 full pages of one liners)  ..     but form is definitely taking shape.   Behind that wall will be a rebuilt bathroom....    with overkill on the walls  (this is the "safe room" for the house).    That tangle of wires hanging out of the wall is the main control panel....   8 switches in one location providing on/off and dimming.    Had to back off on adding blinky to the room......    SWAMBO has been watching too closely...

Hopefully this next weekend will see real progress....

Greetings,,,

Make sure to leave room to pull that fancy truck inside.  You'll be more comfortable sleeping in it under the roof when you explain why it's taking so long...

Easier to grab the bulldozer and have a real demo day than to "gently" make the door go from 72" wide to 80" (allowing .60" clearance on each side  --  definitely not a parking job after a small libation).   (but still - an interesting thought!)  :)
