I have 2 - ssr4/dmx boards that refuse to set the start addresses.   The boards test out ok at addr = 01
I have reflashed the pic chips and have verified the contents to have the proper checksum (9408)  - [assuming tht the wiki is incomplete  - it shows 9408 for pickit2 - I am using pickit3]
Can I program the start addrs into the pic using the pickit?

After re-flashing and resetting the startaddress several times - I finally got the addresss to stick - I have no idea why these two boards behaved this way.  I  guess 2 out of 15 isn't bad!
Does anyone know the address in the eeprom where the address is stored!  - just for future ref.

I think the address is stored in flash memory not the eeprom. I remember something about the eeprom not always programing properly.

If I remember I will look at the code and see what the addresses to edit were. I know they were posted a few times. One thing I find is do not have any load on them helps. I think some 18f chips are picky about voltage when writing to flash.

I think I have one of marginal chips and can't seem to get it to address. Reflashed and still no go. It always goes to address 1. Put in another chip and it addressed the first time. Is it possible to enter the address with the PICKIT3 in HEX? I hate to waste a chip.

Thanks,

Greg

I dont remember identifying an address for the SSR4. I do remember us talking about that on MR16. Here are discussions of SSR4 from long ago.

I couldnt get the ssr 4 i recently got put together to program either.
but i tried this way and it worked.  quote from ssr 4 manual :OPTIONAL Way if the above doesn't work - From RJ

Step 1 - Start with the SSR4.
Step 2 - Turn it on and using my address utility start it sending the address you want out.
Step 3 - With the SSR4 still powered carefully move the jumper.
Step 4 - Count to 3 seconds.
Step 5 - pull the plug on the SSR4.
Step 6 - put the jumper back to operate and power it back up.
