Sometimes a wife just knows better
« on: October 16, 2011, »
Let me qualify my subject line. I've been busting my butt for weeks trying to get my Halloween display ready for this year. I'm adding a singing pumpkin, so I've been trying to get the mouth movements done. I'm down to making the frame for the pumpkin, and about 3 more sequences, then it's install time, probably Tuesday. A few days ago it rained for like 2 days straight, so, being Florida, the ground got saturated, and the water started to rise. Here are pictures of the front yard, and back yard that I took a couple of minutes ago. I didn't even think about it till my wife just said "the ground is too wet to do a display for Halloween", and then it hit me how much water is actually in the yard (slushing sound as you walk around), and I realized she is right, there is no way I'm going to be able to do a display for Halloween especially since the forecast is for more rain the next 2 days. Like I said, sometimes a wife just sucks. I was so excited to do the singing pumpkin, and she just totally knocked the wind out of my sails, what a bummer. And yes, in front of that car is what should be a road.

They do have an annoying habit of bursting bubbles.
Is there a way to elevate your display?

No, it all sits directly on the ground, no way to elevate.

Sorry man ... I understand the disappointment.

I would probably ask to have the subject changed ... sounds bad.

That's too bad!   :(  What about a roof-top application?

Whoever starts the thread can change the subject.  Just do a edit of the original post and change it.  That is how I have added "solved" to a troubleshooting problem.

Ahh reminds me of a T-shirt my wife's uncle got me after being "in" the family after the 1st year.

Said..

"I Do what the voices in my wife's head tell me to".

and yes still have the shirt, just not dump enough to wear it ... HAHAHAH =)

I can see the Jedi hand movement as she tells you, "the ground is to wet to put your display on".  "Yes your right it is to wet, Damn I hate it when she is right".

PS: Sorry to hear the display wont go up.  You can always set it up inside to at least enjoy it yourself =)

Well it rained for about 4 hours last night, so the yard is even wetter. It's so saturated, the ants are heading for higher ground. May have to start parking the car up the street.
