EtherDongle E1.31 Output Plugin...
« on: October 23, 2011, »
Is there an Output plugin specifically for use with the EtherDongle.   The other E1.31 Output plugin was meant for use with dmx devices like the DR4 and are not pixelnet.

You are confusing the two. E1.31 is E1.31 no matter what hardware. Just like USB is USB no matter what hardware. Once the information gets to the Etherdongle then it is pixelnet out to the other smart string hardware.

Well, My being confused is nothing new LOL ..
However, I am using LSP and it has both Pixelnet AND E1.31 Output Plugins.   If I had an EtherDongle flashed for Pixelnet, how do you get the pixelnet data out to the EtherDongle?    The Pixelnet Output plugin configuration poinst to a Comm port not to the ethernet .

I really don't know
I don't use LSP
I wasn't on the EtherDongle beta team so I don't own a EtherDongle yet

I do know it works fine watching the beta team

Maybe one of them can respond

I would think that the pixelnet plugin is for the pixelnet (flashed DMX) dongle and the E1.31 plugin is for any compatable Ethernet device.  The EtherDongle will handle the pixelnet part of the equation.  Just assign the channels to it that you want the dongle to output and let it rip.

The E1.31 plugin for LSP is set up for dmx in that the max size you can have for any given entry is 512.  This means that for just one pixelnet universe using the EtherDongle you would need eight separate entries (32 for the max capability of the EtherDongle)

I believe that you can connect multiple DMX universes to that controller.

Sorry I have been very busy with other things so have not been on the board very much in the last week.

We have a dedicated plugin for vixen for the etherdongle that I will get posted to the wiki.

LSP you must use the E1.31 plugin. It is a pain but you setup for 32 universe for the whole 16,384 channels.
