Would it be possible to use the express with a DMX lighting board? I do intend to use it with a dongle in the future but just for testing purposes just now?

sure why not?

Just make sure the LE matches what channel the board is sending.

Of course, you'll likely need to construct or buy an adapter to convert from the typical 5 pin XLR style DMX plug on a lighting board to the RJ45 used on the Lynx Express.
