Help troubleshoot flexible strip??
« on: October 30, 2011, »
I tested all my strips and they were all good before hanging them from 1" PVC with zip ties. After mounting I had one strip that when I plug a controller into it the fuse on hub gets blown. I have blown four hub channel fuses before I narrowed the problem down to this  particular strip. I may have damaged it during mounting. How do you troubleshoot where it may be bad or what may be causing the problem?

i have 12 channels left on hub but that is ok because I am only using 11 channels on this particular hub. I am ordering more fuses.

Sounds like you shorted out positive and negative on the 12volts.

Put a meter on the inputs and see if they are shorted out.

Take a close look at all your nodes on the "problem" strings and you will probably find the short.  I had a node partially short out and besides it being dim it got really warm.
