EtherDongle & PicKit 2?
« on: October 09, 2011, »
I've seen blurbs about this on various posts, just trying to get a definitive answer.

If the PicKit 3 required to program the PIC on the EtherDongle, or will the PicKit2 suffice?

I believe that Pic requires the Pickit-3.

Not to hijack but if this is the case, who has the best price on a standalone genuine Pickit3. I don't like not being able to program a Pic for a device I have.

The best price I found so far was from Digi-Key since they won't kill you on small item shipping and will ship 1st class mail. Looks like most everybody charges the same price $45

Thanks,
Brian

From the link above did you guys order the - Part Number: PG164130 - PICkit 3 In-Circuit Debugger?

And will that program the PICs for the dongles, LE & MR-16s? Or is there other items needed to order?

It will definitely program the dongle and the express. I haven't built anything else yet. My understanding is the 3 can program everything the 2 can plus more.

FYI the coupon code I posted still works from Mircochipdirect.com until Nov 30.
Code is for 20% off directly from Microchip.
