Change to the Freestyle.
« on: November 04, 2008, »
I have decided to change the 27K resistor in the ZC circuit to a 15K due to a number of people having an issue with the 27K.   The 15K appears to always work well.

The official resistor will be mouser # 660-CFS1/4CT52R153J
but basicly any 15k 1/4 watt that you can get at radio shack will be fine.
This change will be reflected in any new PCB's ordered for the FS as I will change the Silk to show a 15k.

The manual will be changed also to reflect this.

The existing, uncompleted PCB's will still be fine, though. Right?

Hi Dave,

The reason for the change is a dimming problem. The board works just fine for most people others (me included) need to change the resistor so the dimming is smooth.

Hey Dave,

If you have not built the FS yet, you might as well pick up some 15k resistors and maybe save yourself the possibility of unsoldering the resistor and putting in the 15k later.

Just a thought or not :D

No changes being done to the FS at this time. Sorry only able to do so much and everyone wants something different. A few want everything.  ;D

Made changes to three boards this week so far and just a few protos of each with setup fees cost me about $400. Too much of that and the wife will hide my wallet!
