It is times like this that I am glad I live in Arizona.  I don't have to deal with Daylight Savings changes with my clocks.

Work is a whole other issue.  My team works in 3 timezones.

Stop being lazy and rewrite that firmware to set itself for DST.

Or you could just ignore DST.  You will have the wrong time part of the time, but the beauty of it is that eventually it corrects itself!   ;D
