New Express Manual - Now Online in the Wiki
« on: November 06, 2008, »
Hi Folks,

Just wanted to let everyone know that RJ has released the manual for the Lynx Express. He has done another awesome job with this manual. I am just happy to be part of the process, I took the word document and convert it over to the wikimedia format.

Will there be an addendum to the LE Manual for 240V operation?

John

When it will support it there will be. I have the transformer setup changes already written and I will send them to you when you are ready but at this point I consider the units 120v only and do not want to give people the idea they are 240 ready.

Rick,

After I wrote my comment asking for a pdf or .doc downloadable, it ocurred to me that  I could simply print the wiki version to Acrobat and make my own PDF so,

If anyone wants the manual from the wiki in Adobe PDF format here it is.

The only problem with printing it is there are man changes coming to it. That is why it is in the wiki so it can be changed by not just me but everyone. I expect to be adding a appendix to show how to set it up for 240v operation when we have this working and a troubleshooting apppendix for anyone that has problems.  They will also be some other info added as well when the dimming curve features are implimented.

Just a thought!

RJ,

Agreed, but for now, I figured it might prove useful for folks anticipating assembly in the near term.  I figure I'd use it for initial assembly and then use the wiki as the gospel in the future.

RJ:

I was reading the wiki manual and came across a potential correction, but wanted to run it by you first. In the "Programming and Operation of the Express" section, it mentions using a starting channel of 80 if the Express will control channels 80-86, I was thinking that should say 96 as this is a 16-channel unit. Since it's a wiki, I can do the update, just wanted to make sure it was right.

I'm a total noob, and after reading through several sites and forums, I am excited to have stumbled upon diylightanimation. The work you have put into this is awesome. Thank you for your enthusiasm and willingness to share.

Mike..

You found the unintentional scrambled egg.  And yes, you are absolutely correct - it should state 80- 96  (and not 86).    I remember seeing that before the manual made it into the Wiki but after rationalizing it in my mind, I promptly forgot about it.
